Ringsaker, Norway – Saturday, September 13, 2025 – A tragic accident in Åsmarka, Ringsaker, claimed the life of a young motorcyclist on Saturday evening after his motorcycle collided with a moose.
Police confirmed they received the emergency call at 20:36, reporting a serious traffic collision.
“There has been a severe traffic accident involving a moose and a motorcyclist in Åsmarka. One person has been confirmed dead,” said Christian Svarstad, operations leader at Innlandet Police, in a statement to NRK.

Authorities later confirmed that the victim was a young man, and that his next of kin have been notified.
Road Closure and Ongoing Investigation
Police forensic teams, along with the accident investigation unit from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen), were quickly dispatched to the site.
The crash took place on Åsmarkvegen in Ringsaker, forcing authorities to shut down the road in both directions. Police have warned that the road is likely to remain closed for several hours while the investigation continues.
Officials also confirmed that the moose involved in the collision died from the impact.
This incident highlights the ongoing risks for motorists in areas where wildlife frequently crosses major roads, a recurring safety challenge in rural Norway.
