Tyler Robinson, 22; Officially Charged For Killing Charlie Kirk

A 22-year-old man in Utah who is called Tyler Robinson has been formally indicted for the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Utah District Attorney Jeff Gray announced the charges Tuesday evening at a press conference. “This is a crime against the state and against the peace and joy of the people of Utah,” Gray said, asserting the seriousness of the case. Prosecutors Are Going to Seek the Death Penalty. Gray said his office will pursue the death penalty against Robinson.

The decision, he said, was voluntary and took into consideration just the current evidence and the circumstances. “It’s not a pick-and-choose decision,” Gray said. So far, it is as yet uncertain under which circumstances Robinson plans to plead, or whether he has retained counsel.

Detention and Indictment Information: Robinson was apprehended 33 hours after the crime, accused of shooting Kirk. The motivation of the attack has yet to be confirmed. Beyond the indictment of premeditated murder, the indictment also includes multiple counts, including attempt to conceal the firearm and witness tampering.
