London – Sunday, September 14, 2025 – UK business secretary Peter Kyle condemned violence at Saturday's “Unite the Kingdom” rally organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, after police confirmed at least 25 arrests and 26 officers injured, including four seriously.
Kyle praised the rally turnout some 150,000 participants as evidence that free speech and free association remain “alive and well” in the UK. But he added anyone who attacked police would face severe consequences.
“But what’s really a disturbing part is that when you have a minority going to an extreme and then turning to violence against the police that’s not acceptable and those individuals should and will pay a price for it,” Kyle said.
The rally gained extra attention when tech billionaire Elon Musk appeared via video link to address those in central London.
Political and Law Enforcement Response
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood promised that those conducting criminal activities during the demonstration would “face the full force of the law.” Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer also wrote on X:
“People have a right to peaceful protest. It is core to our country’s values.”
The demonstration has raised questions about things like free speech, protest rights, and public order within the UK.
